On My Own Time
On My Own Time was initiated in 1974 by CNY Arts (then the Cultural Resources Council) in cooperation with the Everson Museum of Art to help local businesses identify, celebrate, and promote creativity among their employees. It's a wonderful way for the business community to show their support of local arts and culture!
Over the years, this program has exhibited the works of thousands of Central New York workers, who are amateur artists on their own time, creating countless rewards for the employees and their sponsoring companies. This unique program is a recipient of the Private Sector Initiative Commendation awarded by the President of the United States.
On My Own Time‘s popularity and success has spread across the country, to cities where it has been replicated, name and all. On My Own Time is a program that makes artistic talents that might otherwise go unnoticed visible. It recognizes a most precious gift – creativity.
Last year, local artist Sara Seib spoke to CNY Central's Laura Hand about the 2018 and 45th installment of the program. Please check out the video!
