Rosamond Gifford Zoo
Founded in 1914, the Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park is among the top 10 percent of zoos in the country as an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and is dedicated to connecting people to the natural world by providing engaging guest experiences, exceptional animal care, and unparalleled conservation education.
The zoo actively collaborates with Friends of the Zoo to provide its guests “the best day ever,” ensuring experiences that excite, memories that endure, and knowledge that inspires worldwide conservation.
Located in the heart of Central New York, the Rosamond Gifford Zoo has had its own wild adventure of growth and improvements over the last century. Established as a small 4-acre facility, the 43-acre zoo is now home to more than 700 animals, including Asian elephants, Amur tigers, snow leopards, Humboldt penguins and African lions. The zoo also features a variety of primates and many species of tropical birds and fish, including the only giant Pacific octopus in Upstate New York.
The Rosamond Gifford Zoo hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including Asian Elephant Extravaganza, Brew at the Zoo and Zoo Boo, as well as education programs for all ages.
• Animal demonstrations
• School break zoo camps and adult education programs
• The Curious Cub Gift Shop and Jungle Café
• On-site catering and event venues - Catering at the Zoo
Continuous improvements to the zoo's infrastructure and animal exhibits ensure that the Rosamond Gifford Zoo will remain a treasured attraction in CNY for centuries to come.
