Norma Newton grew up in Little Falls, New York, where she met her childhood sweetheart and future husband. Norma received her Bachelor Degree in Music from Syracuse University and her Master Degree in Music from The University of Texas. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Paris, a Metropolitan Opera Competition National Finalist in 1962 and was named Singer of the Year with the National Association of Teachers of Singing the same year. Due to her great success Norma was proudly able regain the family farm where first her mother happily called home. Norma passed away on November 2, 2008 after a brief illness. Bellinger View Performing Arts has been created as a tribute to Norma, to support of the community she loved.
Vlad Iftinca and Lee Hall were Norma’s second family and spent a great deal of time celebrating life at her family home, beginning in 2001. Additionally Vlad worked with Norma professionally. Some of the great voices of the world choose to collaborate in recitals with Romanian Vlad Iftinca , who is the only Romanian pianist employed at the Metropolitan Opera (Met) in New York. Lee Hall is the executive director of the non-profit Global Health Services. He has experience in event planning and community organizing. In 2011 Vlad and Lee acquired Norma’s family farm, originally built by the Bellinger Family and they became official members of the Little Falls community.
