Northeast Jazz & Wine Festival in Syracuse
Anchoring Syracuse ArtsWeek is the Northeast Jazz and Wine Festival in Clinton Square. Created in 2008, it continues the tradition of providing quality jazz entertainment with wine to create a festival that supports Syracuse and Central New York’s community and culture. Expect to hear the continuous sound of smooth, funky jazz on three stages throughout today and tomorrow. Paired with wine tastings featuring new wines from Simi, Wild Horse and Mondavi, this is sure to be one of Syracuse’s leading summer events.
Festival attendees can expect there to be two jazz clubs in Clinton Square. The Mardi Gras Pavilion will play New Orleans style jazz, and the World Beat Pavilion will provide jazz sounds from around the world. Both wine and beer will be sold in the jazz clubs, as well. Also during the festival will be wine tastings guided by some of the region’s leading wine experts. This will be held in the Red Cross Wine Pavilion, with each wine-tasting ticket set at $10. The cost of the tasting courses will benefit CNY Jazz and the local chapter of the American Red Cross.
The feature events of the Jazz and Wine Festival people are most looking forward to, though, are the entertainment on the main stages this year. Some of the bands include Kat Wright & the Indomitable Soul Band, Symphoria, Atlas XXXVI, Prime Time Funk, and Scott “Bugs” Allen & 3rd Scenario. Stop by and experience the diverse group of artists, enjoy some wine and support the arts in Central New York. For more information on the festival, visit www.nejazzwinefest.org.
