Maritime Museum to Host Juried Lighthouse Art Show
Lighthouses have a special place in the hearts and minds of many and serve, much as they always have, as beacons of hope and sanctuary. As stewards of the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse, the H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego is responsible for spearheading the physical restoration and historic interpretation of the iconic symbol of our City. As such, the Maritime Museum seeks to engage the local art community in this important effort through a series of art-based projects. Through an Oswego Lighthouse themed juried art show and two youth-centered workshops, the Museum seeks to not only promote the amazing artists of Oswego County, but to use their artwork to invigorate a sense of community pride in our historical resources. Juried by Pat Tanner, Executive Director of the Salmon River Fine Arts Center, the show will be featured from July 1st to September 5th at the Maritime Museum with an opening event scheduled for June 30th. Artwork must be submitted by . To submit your artwork, visit the events page at www.hlwmm.org for instructions, or call 315-342-0480 for details!
