Ignite the Spirit!
Kristina Starowitz, Curator and Artist in Residence at the Syracuse Tech Garden, is proud to present the 2014 spring kick-off exhibition, Ignite the Spirit! 20 Women Artists of Central New York, with an opening reception on Thursday, April 3rd 2014 at 5pm.
This exhibit is in association with the WISE Symposium (Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship), this exhibit will be kicking off a series of events, taking pace in a symposium on April 8th that focus on the talents and power of women in business and leadership in the Central New York area.
The exhibit is made up of selected works by 20 engaging female artists living and working in Central New York, spanning a range of styles including oil paintings, watercolor, drawings, photography and metal work. This dramatic and varied exhibition displays a variety of subject matters, illustrating the unique talents and diversity of the individual artists, reflecting the unique and diverse skills and attributes of all women.
“Taking in art is how we reflect on the experience of our own lives. There are so many more wonderful artists," said Kristina Starowitz, curator of the exhibition, noting the great appeal to an audience of art enthusiast and novices, alike. "You will just have to experience all of them at the exhibit."
Some of the featured artists include; Deborah Walsh- who creates extremely detailed and highly expressive classic car paintings, Clare Wilson- metal worker specializes in metal collage work, and Mary Fragapane- whose work brings to life female figures that inhabit a haunting, dreamy and ethereal quality.
This exhibit is held in partnership with the WISE Women’s Business Center and Syracuse First and kicks off the Events Calendar for the 2014 WISE Symposium.
An Opening Reception will be held on Thursday, April 3rd, 2014 5-7:00PM, is made possible by funding from GoToCNYarts.org, providing an active and dynamic regional art events calendar. Matthew De Bellas, from CNY Arts will be at the opening ceremony to answer questions about the GoToCNYarts.org site.
At the reception attendees can enter to win 2 tickets to the Glass Menagerie at the Syracuse Stage.
10% of all Art Sales on April 3rd will be donated to Vera House in Support of their white Ribbon Campaign to end violence.
