Dasher's Magical Gift: Meet the dancers!
It's Dasher time at CNY Arts, and we are so excited to present "Dasher's Magical Gift" for the 4th year! This is an important holiday tradition to us and many families in New York that began in 1979 when "The Adventures of Rudolph" premiered. We love the magical memories that these shows have created and are proud that both of these shows are 100% a labor of talent and love from right here in Central New York!
In the weeks leading up to the show, we want to introduce you to some of Santa's helpers who are bringing this show to life this year!
Today, meet Stephen Huffaker and Jessica Loch, two of Santa’s Reindeer and Connie Zhang who plays Snowball! Stephen is playing Dancer (and 2nd cast Dasher!) in this magical story and Jessica is another big reindeer and Glitter, an icicle. Connie starts us off by coming down the slide first.
Stephen, 16 years old and Jessica, 15 years old both started dancing at 5 years of age. Both of them are dancing because of the influence of their older sisters. Connie, 11 years old, started dancing at 3.
Stephen likes playing a reindeer because, “I like that I get to do lots of big jumps”. Jessica says, “I like how the reindeer are regal, hard-working creatures”. Connie enjoys the element of acting when dancing. She feels eager to “get on pointe and perform on stage”.
Stephen is a fan of all broadway musicals and recognizes the amount of time and effort it takes to improve. Someday, Jessica would like to see Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty. She knows that mastering ballet comes first with perfected technique.
