Dasher's Magical Gift: Meet the dancers!
It's Dasher time at CNY Arts, and we are so excited to present "Dasher's Magical Gift" for the 4th year! This is an important holiday tradition to us and many families in New York that began in 1979 when "The Adventures of Rudolph" premiered. We love the magical memories that these shows have created and are proud that both of these shows are 100% a labor of talent and love from right here in Central New York!
In the weeks leading up to the show, we want to introduce you to some of Santa's helpers who are bringing this show to life this year!
Today, meet Marissa and Alexandra! Both dancers are part of the “Spirit of Christmas” court as icicles, and Marissa also plays a reindeer.
Marissa began dancing when she was 2 years old – she is 14 now – and Alexandra (13 years old) started dancing when she was 5.
Marissa enjoys being a reindeer because she is on Dasher’s “crew”! She says “[The reindeer] have the most amazing entering scene and exciting scene and I love to do all the acting that being a reindeer requires. I like the icicles because it’s the part of the show that is more classical and technical. It is a very magical scene for the audience!” Alexandra agrees that she likes being an icicle because of how beautiful the scene is.
Someday, Marissa would love to dance in Swan Lake or Gisselle. Alexandra would like to dance in The Firebird!
