Dasher's Magical Gift: Meet the dancers!
It's Dasher time at CNY Arts, and we are so excited to present "Dasher's Magical Gift" for the 4th year! This is an important holiday tradition to us and many families in New York that began in 1979 when "The Adventures of Rudolph" premiered. We love the magical memories that these shows have created and are proud that both of these shows are 100% a labor of talent and love from right here in Central New York!
In the weeks leading up to the show, we want to introduce you to some of Santa's helpers who are bringing this show to life this year!
Caira and Emma are both playing penguins in this year’s production of “Dasher”. (Caira is a veteran penguin, having also played one last year!)
Caira is 14 years old and from the town of Salina. She began training at Dance Centre North ten years ago, when she was four. Her interest in dance and ballet grew because of the combination of athleticism and grace required to not only perform the challenging moves but to make them look beautiful.
Emma is 11 years old, from Cicero, and also started dancing at the age of four. She started to dance because sports weren’t her forte, but now she love it!
Both Caira and Emma enjoy playing the penguins because of the fun they get to have. Caira says that she loves how much the kids in the audience love the penguins, and that she gets to interact with the audience at the beginning of the show. Emma has been wanting to see “Dasher” for a few years, and got to last year for the first time! She’s excited to perform in it this year.
Ballet can definitely have its challenges. Caira says that remembering all the details involved in a piece can be challenging, and of course persevering through the pain after a long rehearsal en pointe!
