2nd Annual Taste of Syracuse Poster Design Contest

Winning Design Announced!

The Taste of Syracuse in partnership with CNY Arts invited area junior high and high school students to create a design for the 2nd annual Taste of Syracuse poster contest. Taste of Syracuse and CNY Arts are proud to present the Grand Prize to Samantha Goodnough, a 12th grader from Cicero North Syracuse High School.


The first runner-up is Sarah Ditterline, an 11th grader from Corcoran High School. The second runner-up is 12th grader, Julie Lee, from Faith Heritage. The winners were announced Friday, May 15th at AmeriCU Credit Union in Armory Square.

"The Taste of Syracuse poster contest gives students a chance to hone their artistic skills through competition that strengthens their portfolios through real-world experiences,” said Stephen Butler, CNY Arts Executive Director. "We are excited to work with Taste of Syracuse for a second year providing this opportunity for students and we look forward to continuing this competition in the years to come.”

Students representing area junior high and high schools submitted over 80 designs into the competition. A specially selected panel representing the Taste of Syracuse and CNY Arts judged the designs and narrowed the entries down to the top ten finalists. 

The public then chose the winning design by voting on  The Grand Prize winner’s poster will be featured in a variety of communication material and online promotions across the Central New York region and will also be exhibited at the Taste of Syracuse event taking place Friday and Saturday, June 5th and 6th.


The Grand Prize includes a cash prize of $150.00 to the winning student and $150.00 to the school’s art program courtesy of Taste of Syracuse. First runner-up receives an opportunity to shadow a graphic designer for a day and get a “behind the scenes” look at an art organization. Second runner-up receives a tour of Syracuse Media Group offices and a one-on-one lunch with a creative consultant.

The AmeriCU Credit Union Taste of Syracuse presented by TOPS Friendly Markets is CNY’s premier summer festival.  The Taste of Syracuse will boast a variety of delicious food, events, music and activities that will take place in and around Clinton Square. The event, which is free offers $1 food samples or tastes and hopes to surpass last year’s attendance of 200,000.
