Seneca Lake Plein Air Festival

pleinair

The Seneca Lake Plein Air Festival, takes place October 1-4, 2015 and benefits the Smith Center for the Arts in Geneva. This is the second annual fall festival. Previous festivals were scheduled in August and were formerly known as the Billsboro Winery Plein Air Festival, founded by winery co-owner, Kim Aliperti. Altogether, this year marks the 8th year of a Plein Air festival showcasing the northern end of Seneca Lake.

This is a juried art competition; Fran Bliek and Wendy Harris are reviewing works submitted by artists for entry into the show. During the festival, the competition will be judged by Gwen McCausland and Brian Keeler. Cash prizes include the Lynn Bunnell grand prize, $1,000; second prize, $750; third prize $500; people's choice, $500; artist's choice, $500 and the paint off prize for Saturday's contest, $500.

A limited number of homestays for the artists are available.

Those interested in entering the festival as participating artists are encouraged to visit the Plein Air site for more information about the festival and fill out a registration form either via this form or online.

All competition entries will be offered for sale at the artist’s price. Artists will receive 70% of the sale price of their artwork, with the remaining 30% going directly to support arts programming through The Smith. All artists are expected to be present for both the Gala Reception on October 3 and the Public Art Exhibition and Sale on October 4. We hope you will join us in creating a memorable and fun-filled experience for both artists and art-enthusiasts alike.
