26th Annual Street Painting Festival Needs Artists

Calling all Central New York artists: Channel both your creative and competitive side this year at the 26th Annual Street Painting Festival. Whether you’re a preschooler doodling flowers or an expert recreating Starry Night, this chalk-art competition is welcome to all ages and skill levels. The festival will take place on Saturday, July 30 (rain date is July 31) from 8 am until 3 pm. It will be held during Artsweek, a week-long program showcasing visual and performing arts events in Syracuse.

The Street Painting Festival is the perfect event for family and friends alike to exhibit their talents during a week of diverse and fun-filled festivities. Youth, Teens and Adults will have the opportunity to create their own masterpieces in chalk on a designated area of sidewalk on Montgomery Street in downtown Syracuse. On top of spending a day beautifying the city with fellow artists, prizes will be awarded to the top participants in each age level. Top winners will also be featured throughout the year in the Syracuse New Times, where their artwork will be showcased to all of Syracuse. Entry to this festival is $10 for youth (ages 12 & younger) and Teens (ages 13-17), $20 for adults (ages 18 & older), and $20 to paint one of the Syracuse New Times’ paper boxes (ages 13 & older). Chalk will be provided, but bringing your own is encouraged. Signing up after July 22 will add $5 to your registration, so make sure to sign up early! Registration will also be open all day on July 30, or until there is no more available space. We hope to see you there, and we can’t wait to see what masterpieces are in store for this year!  Click here for more event and registration information.
